The perfect substitute for inefficient linear supplies. When we started the development of the R-78 in 2005 we soon realized the enormous potential. This product enabled the replacement of inefficient linear supplies with a converter that features 97% efficiency, thereby obsoleting the use of a heat-sink. Being also pin-compatible it was easy to integrate into already existing designs.
Meanwhile our product has been copied by our competitors – which we observe with some satisfaction, particularly when we see them economizing “at the wrong end”. Lately we have come across copies featuring our RECOM-logo, which prompted us to also protect our name in China.
The development in converter technology does not come to a halt – this is why we also are proud to include the latest DOSA footprint converters in our portfolio such as the RPM Power Modules, which feature unmatched power density in a low profile case and the RBB10 Buck/Boost Converter, which handles input voltages ≤ and ≥ than the 1.0V – 5.5V sense output. To test these series quickly and simply, we also offer corresponding Evaluation Boards.
For the 20th time, the readers of the German electronics magazine “Elektronik” voted from a selection of 111 products in ten categories for the most innovative products of 2018. RECOM’s new R-78S boost switching regulator achieved an excellent 3rd place. The series has been specially designed for single-cell powered IoT applications. With a wide input voltage range, high efficiency and low stand-by losses, the boost regulator extends not only the working lifetime of the application, but also maintains a stable 3.3V output down to “the last gasp” battery voltage.
