
The European Union, through the Directive 2002/95/EC Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), prohibits placing on the EU market new Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) containing more than the permitted levels of six (6) hazardous substances: lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and both polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
One variety of PBDE, Decabromodiphenyl ether (DecaBDE), a flame retardant used in a wide variety of polymeric applications (plastics, rubbers, elastomers, coatings, adhesives and sealants) had been exempted from the RoHS Directive. This will change as of July 1st, 2008.
All new Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) containing more than 0.1% by weight DecaBDE at the homogeneous material level cannot be placed on the EU market after June 30, 2008. All products that are sold in the EU will have to be certified or recertified as RoHS compliant based on this new requirement.
Since 1.1.2005, we have been re-engineering our products series by series to meet the rules of the new RoHS requirements (EU-guideline 2002/95/EG).

Our RoHS compliant products are labelled in all of our financial documentation (Order Confirmation, Delivery Note and Invoice) with the comment "RoHS-konform" or "RoHS-compliant" next to the article description.
The converters themselves carry the RoHS-compliant symbol (the letters Pb crossed out inside a circle). Additionally, the packaging tubes will carry this symbol as a sticker.
